Tech2Empower Malaysia

Program Location: George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia

Program Dates: June 1 - June 8, 2024

Program Overview

Tech2Empower Malaysia, set to take place in the culturally rich city of George Town, the capital of Penang from June 1 to June 8, 2024, will foster mutual empowerment, cultural learning, and knowledge exchange among an international cohort of women leaders from diverse backgrounds. This dynamic initiative brings together a vibrant mix of young women leaders from the ASEAN region attending the Harpswell ASEAN Women’s Leadership Summit volunteer Advisors from the global tech industry, and dedicated local NGO leaders focused on women's rights and empowerment.

What to Expect

At the heart of Tech2Empower Malaysia is the commitment to creating a space where diverse groups of women benefit mutually through shared experiences and insights. The program features an array of mentoring and leadership workshops specifically tailored for the young women from the Harpswell ASEAN Women’s Leadership Summit. These sessions are designed to offer guidance, enhance leadership skills, and provide mentorship to this remarkable group of young leaders.

A highlight of the program is the Tech2Empower Impact Challenge, where volunteer Advisors will collaborate on real-world projects with local NGOs. This challenge presents an opportunity for hands-on learning and direct contribution to meaningful causes. Advisors will work closely with NGOs, applying their skills to develop tech-driven solutions that address critical issues related to women’s empowerment and rights in the region.

Throughout the week, the program facilitates a dynamic environment for all attendees to engage in deep cultural exchanges and knowledge sharing. This interaction not only nurtures personal and professional growth but also strengthens the network of women leaders and tech professionals dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities.

Tech2Empower Malaysia is more than just a volunteer experience; it's a movement that champions the power of technology and leadership to drive social change. By connecting women leaders across ASEAN countries with global tech experts and local change-makers, the program aims to create a ripple effect of empowerment and innovation that extends far beyond the event itself.

Meet our Program Partner:

Harpswell ASEAN Women’s Leadership Summit

During Tech2Empower Malaysia, WAKE is honored to partner with Harpswell, an inspiring nonprofit we first met during our 2018 Tech2Empower Cambodia program. Our two organizations are united in our belief that women lead change. Tech2Empower Malaysia will coincide with Harpswell’s annual ASEAN Women’s Leadership Summit, which brings 22 young women aged 25-30, two from each of the ten countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as Nepal, to Malaysia for an immersion in leadership development and professional networking.
